Residential Locksmith Services in Burnsville NC

Mailbox & Storage Key Service

We cut most mailbox and storage keys in shop or mobile. USPS keys are restricted and can only be obtained through the post office — we’ll tell you that upfront rather than waste your time. If there’s no original key we can originate one from scratch.

Garage Door Lock Service

We service garage door lock hardware including the handle and latch assembly — you can’t make a lock operate without it. Shop or mobile.

Master Key Systems

Most residential properties don’t need a master key system — and we’ll tell you that honestly if you call asking. For properties that do, like rental units or large homes, we design and generate the system ourselves.

Lock Installations Burnsville NC

Most people call thinking they need new locks when what they really need is a rekey. But when it’s time for new hardware, we recommend Schlage — it’s better made and lasts longer than most brands you’ll find at a hardware store. We also install door plates and reinforcement wraps if you want to add an extra layer of security.

Lock Rekeying

Rekeying changes the inside of your lock so old keys no longer work — same hardware, brand new key. It’s the smart move after a move, a breakup, a lost key, or any time you’re not sure who has a copy. Most locksmith calls that people think are lock replacements are actually just rekeying jobs.

Smart Lock Installation

We install and program keypads and smart locks — Schlage and other quality brands. You get the convenience of keyless entry without giving up the security of a real lock. We’ll tell you straight what fits your door and your life.

Lock Upgrades & High-Security Locks

Want to add a deadbolt or upgrade to a higher-security lock? We carry and install commercial-grade hardware for residential doors. We’ve seen other locksmiths leave out tumblers, use tape and glue, and install locks upside down — that’s not how we work.

Key Duplication

We cut keys from factory specs, not from a worn original. A copy of a bad key is just another bad key. Bring it to the shop 9AM-5PM and we’ll cut a spare while you wait.

Door Lock Repair

Sticky locks, broken latches, handles that don’t catch — we repair or replace door hardware on the spot. We carry parts and can source most hardware same day. Don’t take a lock problem to a mechanic — they’ll call us anyway and charge you for being in the middle.

Residential Safe
Service

We open, repair, and service all safe types — fire safes, gun safes, floor safes, antique safes, drop safes, and vaults. If you’ve lost a combination we’ll try to open it without drilling first. When we do have to drill, we fill it with carbinex — the same hard steel safes are made from — so you’ll never know it happened.

Why People Call Us When Other Locksmiths Can't

Another locksmith called me the other day. I got there and he said Noble sent him — he couldn’t figure out how to get a profile cylinder out of a French door. First time I came across that lock was about 18 years ago. I studied it for about a minute and said, “ah, I see you.” I’m not telling anyone how to get it out.

If a lock defeats me I think about it the rest of the day and dream about it at night. 99% of the time I go back the next day problem solved — residential, commercial, or auto.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to change my locks when I move into a new home?

Not always — rekeying is usually the smarter move. It changes the internal pins so old keys no longer work, costs less than a full replacement, and we can do it same visit. We rekey homes all across Yancey and Mitchell County.

What’s the difference between rekeying and replacing a lock?

Rekeying changes who can open the lock. Replacing changes the hardware entirely. If your lock is in good shape, rekeying is the right call. If it’s worn, damaged, or you want to upgrade security, we’ll tell you straight which one makes sense.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. NC License #2631, fully bonded and insured, ALOA and SAVTA verified. You can ask to see it — we’ll show you.

Can you make a key if I’ve lost all my copies?

Yes. Key origination — making a key with no original — is one of our specialties. Most locksmiths won’t touch it. We’ve done it on everything from brand new vehicles to antique locks.

How quickly can you get to me in Burnsville or Yancey County?

Keith runs mobile Sun–Fri 8AM–6PM. The shop at 5994 US-19E is open Mon–Fri 9AM–5PM. Call or text and we’ll give you an honest ETA.

Do you install smart locks?

Yes — keypads, app-controlled, and traditional deadbolts. We’ll help you pick what actually fits your door and your life, not just what’s popular.
